Professor emeritus Tadeusz Lewaszkiewicz, Ph.D. He specialises in Slavic linguistics: Sorbian philology, Polish philology and selected general Slavic issues. Research interests: history of the Polish language and Sorbian languages, selected issues from the history of Slavic languages (with the emphasis placed on the role of translations of the Bible in the development of Slavic languages), Polish and Sorbian lexicology, Sorbian word-formation, the Polish language spoken in Eastern Borderland, inter-Slavic and Slavic-non-Slavic linguistic contacts, the history of linguistic Slavic studies and Slavophilia. Member of the Committee of History of Slavic Studies at the International Committee of Slavists, member of the Scientific Board of the Sorbian Institute in Budziszyn, editor in chief of “Slavia Occidentalis. Linguistica” annual journals, member of editorial board of “Lětopis” (Budziszyn) and “Gwary Dziś”, member of the scientific board of “Pro Lusatia”.
